This vintage, counting money, bingo game is in excellent condition, considering how long I have had it! I laminated the cards for durability! I used this set in my 1st grade classroom, and the kids loved it! It is a nice beginning counting money bingo game, as it doesn’t involve any quarters, just pennies, nickels, and dimes. There is normal scuffing to the lid of the box. A couple of the playing boards have very faint smudges or crayon marks on the back of them, due to rubbing on a tabletop during play, as the game was used before the boards were laminated. And, one board has a slight wrinkle in the top row. This set is clean and comes from a smoke free home. This intriguing money bingo game helps players learn basic concepts of money. It is a stimulating game for active learning and for both small group or total class play with enough materials for up to 36 players. Each playing card contains 8 sets of coins. Players match these sets of coins with their respective money values. Pennies, nickels, and dimes are featured in money values ranging from 3 cents to 50 cents. This game was made by Trend Enterprises, Inc. and has a copyright of 1997. It consists of 36 playing boards, 20 caller cards, 5 sheets of red cardboard tokens (33 on a page), an answer sheet, and a large, orange, master sheet checking chart. The answer sheet provides a quick, easy reference for checking the accuracy of players’ answers. The answers for each playing card are arranged in the same 8-section pattern as the playing card itself. The directions for the game are inside the lid. Maximum learning and fun can be achieved by implementing the following simple guidelines: Before playing, it is recommended that players have a review to be sure they can recognize the individual money values of a penny, nickel, and dime. It is also suggested that players study the coin combinations on their playing cards before the game begins. Encouraging players to help each other during the game is also recommended. And, it is suggested that when “Bingo” is called, all players should leave the markers on their cards until the person who thinks he/she has Bingo calls off the covered sets of coins for the caller to check. This game has 5 variations (top row, middle 4, bottom row, 4 corners, or whole card). To set up the game, each player receives a playing card and 4 markers. Whole card bingo requires 8 markers. A child is chosen as the caller if an adult is not present. The caller determines which variation of the game will be played and announces his/her choice at the beginning of each game. The caller then spreads the master sheet checking chart and stacks the calling cards face down. He/she draws 1 card at a time and calls out the time money value. The caller then shows the card to the players and places it over the corresponding money value on the master sheet checking chart. Participants count the coins on their playing cards, covering only sets of coins that equal the money value on the master chart. This procedure continues until there is a winner. The first player to cover all the money values for the variation being played calls “Bingo”. The player reads the money values of the coin sets that he/she has covered for the caller to check on the master and answer sheets. If the money value a player has covered correspond to those covered on the master sheet, the player wins, and all cards are cleared for a new game. If the money values do not match, the game continues until someone does have Bingo. A new caller may be chosen for each game. It is the caller’s decision whether the variation changes with each game or remains the same. As a former educator, I purchased many Trend materials for my classroom. They are high-quality items that children love! I would highly recommend them to both teachers and parents. This game would make a wonderful addition to a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade classroom! It would also be great to have in a household with young children, as they would certainly have many playing boards from which to choose! I am hoping to find it a good home.
