Handmade by me in 2006. Note that there will be wear to the pieces from use, but all parts are still here. What I did: Read the story aloud at circle and one by one, introduced the matching figure on a mat facing the children.The next day, I placed all of the figures in a basket and read the story and invited a child to come and place the matching figure on the mat. Finally, it became a 1-2 person work on the beginning language shelf. They loved it. More so, I loved when two children (who were not readers) to "retell" the story without the book. Now that I'm no longer in a school setting, I'm hoping to find a classroom who will love this work and the effort put into it.
